Father of Refrigeration

Dr. John Gorrie (United States): An American physician who, in 1842, built an air-cooling apparatus to treat yellow fever patients in Florida. He was granted the first U.S. patent for mechanical refrigeration (Patent No. 8080) on May 6, 1851.
James Harrison (Australia): A Scottish-Australian journalist and engineer who developed the first practical, commercially viable mechanical ice-making machine in 1854.
He is widely recognized as the father of the industry in Australia.
Additionally, American inventor Jacob Perkins is often called "the father of the refrigerator" for patenting the first working vapor-compression refrigeration system in 1834.
